The Pony eighth-grade volleyball team hosted Wellsville Tuesday afternoon and fell in both the A and B-team matches.
The A-team Ponies got swept 10-25, 12-25 and 16-25 while the B-Team fell in four sets.
The A-team struggled against a more physically gifted Wellsville team and never got a chance to get into a rhythm offensively.
The positive thing about this match was that we did a little better in each set, head coach Terri Carlin said. Wellsville was bigger and stronger than us. They had several girls that were pretty strong hitters and servers and we didnt do a great job passing the ball. The girls stayed positive throughout the match, but they just couldnt get anything going.
Caiden Cloud had two aces and Khloeigh Shafer added an ace. Louise Caron had a kill and Dallyn McGraw had an assist.
The B-Team fared slightly better, earning a win in the opening set, but couldnt keep it going, falling in the final three sets (25-20, 23-25, 19-25 and 17-25).
Cloud made her presence known once again recording four aces, two kills and an assist.
(Cloud) gave us a spark at the net, Carlin said. She was our setter tonight and she did a good job all-around.
Jadyn Kaufman had three aces, a kill and an assist, and Abi Hirt had three aces. Macie Hoag had an ace and an assist.
Carly Dreher and Emma McCormack each had an ace.
The Ponies will hit the road for the first time this season on Monday when they travel to Osawatomie.
